Richard Strauss: Elektra - tragedy in One ActOpis:Product DescriptionBased on ancient Greek mythology and Sophocles' tragedy Electra, the opera is the second of Strauss's two highly modernist operas, the first being Salome. Laila Andersson-Palme was born in 1941 and moved to Stockholm in 1960. She was immediately accepted in the solo class at the Royal College of Music and began to perform in small roles at the Opera. Following a hugely successful career often singing Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner, in various roles, in 1985 she was appointed Court singer in 1985 and was elected in 1997 as member no. 913 of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
Review"Elektra, one-act opera, was the first of the famous collaborations between Richard Strauss and the Austrian librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal, one of the founders of the Salzburg Festival. Unlike Sophocles' original Greek tragedy ―in which Electra's brother, Orestes, is the figure destined to avenge his father's death―in Strauss's operatic version it is Electra who seeks revenge, seducing Aegisthus to enter the palace (in the "celebration"), where he and Clytemnestra ―tormented by anxiety and a paralyzing fear― will tragically await their fate. This stage recording, released by the Swedish label Sterling, served as a farewell performance by the famous Swedish soprano Laila Andersson-Palme at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. So let's talk about an analog recording. We note that the orchestra is perhaps the largest ever used in the entire history of opera… It is also extraordinary the final duet between Andersson-Palme and Soldh. On the other hand, baritone Gunnar Lundberg sings his part of Orestes with determination and forcefulness. Master Siegfried Köhler, who conducted the Grand Orchestra of the Royal Swedish Opera, had the necessary qualities to transmit feelings and emotions to the viewer. A final annotation that may be of interest to the reader is that some passages are missing in this version. Even so, we consider it a recording that treasures the dissonant tonal modernism of the composer, classical Greek literature and the great artists who marked an entire operatic era in Sweden." --Josep Bosch - sonogram magazineAutor:Laila Andersson-PalmeNośnik:Audio CDPłyt:Język: English: Original Language; EnglishData wydania: 2023-03-03Waga: 0.52 gramWysokość: 1 cmSzerokość: 4.9 cmDługość: 5.6 cmUWAGA: Kupując produkt na tej aukcji zgadzasz się na wydłużony termin realizacji wysyłki (10-14 dni roboczych).
